We are pleased to announce Sapience Institute’s formal relationship with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), one of the world’s leading Islamic universities.
This June, Hamza Andreas Tzortzis, CEO of Sapience Institute, will travel to Malaysia to deliver lectures, seminars and training at IIUM, with a focus on Qur’an and science, Islamic worldview studies, da’wah and the philosophy of science.
The visit will include the formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and prepare the ground for further collaboration with Shaykh Fahad Tasleem and other Sapience Institute instructors. This partnership forms part of our mission to strengthen Islamic thought and equip the next generation to articulate Islam with clarity, confidence and compassion.

Scientific Miracles in the Qur'an?
Sapience Institute, in collaboration with IIUM's Department of Qur'an and Sunnah Studies, presents a two-day workshop on science and the Qur'an. Designed for faculty members, postgraduate students and serious students of the subject, the workshop will be delivered by Hamza Andreas Tzortzis and will draw on his doctoral research on the claim of scientific miracles in the Qur'an. It will critically assess al-Iʿjāz al-ʿIlmī and introduce a three-tiered hermeneutical framework.

After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the intellectual history of al-Iʿjāz al-ʿIlmī, from the tajdīd movement to the apologetics movement.
- Explore the epistemic nature of the Qur'an and its references to nature through the classical exegetical and scholarly tradition.
- Understand the logic and assumptions behind al-Iʿjāz al-ʿIlmī.
- Engage with five key arguments that deconstruct al-Iʿjāz al-ʿIlmī.
- Understand and apply the three-tiered hermeneutical framework known as the Multiplicity of Readings Approach.
- See how the Multiplicity of Readings Approach offers a more robust way of addressing the challenges involved in correlating the Qur'an and science.
- Appreciate the Qur'an's multilayered, multileveled and timeless nature.
